Can you imagine being suspended 158 meters above the ground? Getting to know the Tibetan Bridge of Andorra is a mandatory tourist visit.
The recently inaugurated (2022) Tibetan Bridge of the Vall del Riu, in Canillo (Andorra), is the second longest bridge in the world with capacity for 600 people. It is located at 1,875 meters above sea level and 603 meters long (one way). In addition, it is designed to be traveled in both directions with a width of one meter.
A Tibetan Bridge is a walkway that is suspended in the air to overcome geographical barriers. Generally, they are usually connected between two mountainous parts by crossing valleys, ravines or rivers. In this case, it flies over the Vall del Riu, a deep valley of fir trees.
How to get to the Tibetan Bridge?
It is important to note that it is not possible to access the place by car. Instead, it is accessed from a bus that departs from the Palau de Gel, located in the town of Canillo. The bus is included in the ticket price and runs every 20 – 30 minutes. It is advisable to check the departure time to avoid waiting. From the bus stop (Montaup) to the famous bridge, you walk 900 meters long with magnificent views of the Grandvalira ski slopes and the central valley of the Parroquia de Canillo. It is also possible to access the bridge on foot through the Mirador del Roc del Quer parking lot (550 meters away) or from Canillo by walking 3.8 kilometers (45 minutes).
The Tibetan Bridge of Canillo is located very close to the Mirador del Roc del Quer, a glass walkway 20 meters long. This transparent walkway allows you to enter the mountain in a special way, feeling the landscape under your feet. The platform is suspended in the air 500 meters above the ground.
