The GR11, the journey that takes you from the Cantabrian Sea to the Mediterranean Sea.

It is a long-distance trail with high difficulty, which in its entirety runs approximately 800 kilometers, crossing the entire Pyrenees from the Cantabrian Sea to the Mediterranean Sea. It is one of the journeys that allows you to discover the corners that the natural border hides, in which hikers can see the beauty that is found in each stage of this fascinating route, where each path marked by white and red marks, discovers thousands of emotions. , secrets, charming places and unbeatable views that change at each stage.

In addition to immersing you in its leafy forests, the stages generally cross towns, refuges or lodges, making it an accessible route. At each stage, it allows you to learn about the culture of the small towns it passes through, the wildlife of native animals and its characteristic changes in climate, making it a route full of emotions and daily adventures.


Stage 33, the GR11 as it passes through the Principality of Andorra

This stage begins in our parish of Encamp , ending at the Refugio de l'Illa. In it, you can enjoy different trails that run mostly along the side of the Madriu River and where you discover different lakes.

In addition to having the opportunity to get to know the parish, along the 16 kilometers you pass the Font de les Molleres , the Camí dels Matxos and the Vall del Madriu-Perafita-Claror UNESCO World Heritage Site, in addition to accessing several free shelters, where you can make stops where (in some of them) kitchen and rest areas are available. However, there are multiple options that you can find to make these stops, as it passes through different areas such as Llac d'Engolasters or the Els Corralets picnic area.


Rest, the best ally to finish the GR11

The beginning of stage 33 in the center of Encamp allows you to make a quality stop, being able to rest in one of the hotels that are in the parish, taking into account that the next stop in a town with hotels is several stages later.
