What do the Alpine Ski World Cup Finals represent?

Organized by the International Ski Federation (FIS), the Alpine Ski World Cup (AUDI FIS World Cup) is an international competition held each year during the northern hemisphere winter season in which the best skiers from each country participate. discipline throughout a circuit of races held in different ski resorts around the world. The finals correspond to the last races of the competition, the last opportunity to score points in the general classification and consecrate the best skier in the world with the Crystal Globe.

The Final will take place this year in Andorra. The competition will be held in Grandvalira – Soldeu – El Tarter from March 13 to 19, 2023. In which, the best 25 skiers from different alpine disciplines will fight in the grand final for their best position.

The experience and great appreciation obtained by the highest representatives of the FIS in the organization, first of the European Cup Finals, and of the World Cup Finals in 2019, have led the Principality of Andorra to be chosen to some new finals.

How does the Cup work? Official calendar

Downhill training begins on Monday and Tuesday, March 13 and 14 on the Àliga slope, while on Wednesday the 15th the competitions for the best skiers - male and female - will begin. Below are the official calendar dates and times:

  • Monday 03/13/23

At 10:00 a.m.: Men's DH training (Àliga track).

At 11:30 a.m.: Women's DH training (Àliga track).

At 7:30 p.m.: Opening ceremony in Soldeu.


  • Tuesday 03/14/23 on the Àliga court in El Tarter

At 10:00 a.m.: Women's DH training

At 11:30 a.m.: Men's DH training


  • Wednesday 03/15/23 on the Àliga court in El Tarter

At 10:00 a.m.: DH men.

At 11:30 a.m.: DH women.


  • Thursday 03/16/23 at the Àliga court in El Tarter

At 10:00 a.m.: SG women.

At 11:30 a.m.: SG men.


  • Friday 03/17/23

At 12:00 p.m.: Mixed Team Parallel (Àliga track).

At 7:00 p.m.: public bib draw in L'Abarset (El Tarter sector)


  • Saturday 03/18/23 on the Avet track in Soldeu

From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.: GS men.

From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: SL women.

From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: World Cup Village


  • Sunday 03/19/23 on the Avet track in Soldeu

From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.: GS women.

From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: SL men.

From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: World Cup Village

At 1:00 p.m.: Awards ceremony


Who will participate in the Final?

Skiers participating in the Ski World Cup Finals Andorra will be obtained as follows:

  • The 25 best skiers in each discipline (according to the FIS) will be called for the competition.
  • It is mandatory that the skier achieve at least 400 points during the season. In this way, you will be automatically qualified for the next one.
  • The Olympic champions of each discipline will automatically qualify, as well as the Youth World Cup champions.

Qualification in the AUDI FIS World Cup

In each season, points are accumulated from all the competitions that will appear in the International Ski Federation (FIS). In this way, at the end of the season 14 crystal globes will be awarded: 10 for each specialty/sex, 2 large crystal globes and two for the Nations Cup.

Points will be assigned to the best 30 times, earning from 1 to 100 points depending on position:

  • First position = 100 points
  • Fifth position = 45 points
  • Tenth position = 26 points
  • Thirtieth position = 1 point
