Andorra, epicenter of world cycling with the arrival of the 78th edition of La Vuelta

The Principality will host the end of the third stage in Arinsal, on August 28, and the start of the fourth in Andorra la Vella, on the 29th.

To talk about La Vuelta is to talk about Andorra and its first-class mountain passes, which have been the scene of exciting disputes between the best cyclists in the world.

Still with the memory of the stage that was held entirely in Andorra in 2019, the Vuelta will return to the Principality for the 23rd time this August 28 with what will be the first contact with the mountain stages. Specifically, Andorra will host the end of the third stage, which will take place between Súria and Arinsal (158 km); and the beginning of the fourth, leaving from the Parc Central of Andorra la Vella and arriving in Tarragona (183 km).

The Vuelta a España 2023: 21 stages starting in Barcelona and ending in Madrid

Considered by the International Cycling Union (UCI) as one of the three most important stage events on the world calendar along with the Giro and the Tour, the Vuelta will begin in the Olympic Port of Barcelona, on August 26, and will end at Madrid on September 17.

In total, the 78th edition of the Spanish round will have 21 stages, including the two that will take place in the French Pyrenees, with the climb to the mythical Tourmalet included.

The arrival of the 3rd stage of the Vuelta will be very special for the Arinsal station, since it will become, for the first time, the end of the stage.

The best cyclists in the world will arrive in the Principality on Monday, August 28 after cycling more than 100 km from the Catalan town of Súria. The last 51 km will be done in Andorra and will include two first-class mountain passes: the Coll de Ordino and the climb to Arinsal, with a 6.8 km ascent from Erts to Comallemple, with 573 meters of positive gradient and a slope average of 8.4%.

The action will resume on Tuesday, August 29 with the start of the fourth stage, which will start from the center of Andorra la Vella and end in Tarragona, covering a total of 183 km.
