August 4, 2019. There is no cycling lover who does not have this date marked in red on the calendar. And it is no wonder, since very few cycle tours can be compared to "La Purito", a test that despite its youth (this year it faces its fifth edition) has established itself as one of the most emblematic and anticipated competitions in Andorra. Thus, one more year, and now there are four in a row, a new edition of this demanding test arrives, conceived and designed entirely by the former cyclist residing in Andorra, Joaquim “Purito” Rodríguez.

With more than 7,000 cyclists registered since the start of the test, held for the first time in 2015, the fifth edition of the Purito Andorra arrives, as always, with routes for different levels and with a great incentive: the tribute to the former Spanish cyclist Pedro "Perico" Delgado. Without a doubt, a more than deserved tribute, since talking about "Perico" is talking about one of the most awarded Spanish cyclists who marked an entire era, with nothing more and nothing less than a Tour de France (1988) and 2 Tours. Spain (1985 and 1989).
Three routes for three different levels.
28, 80 and 145 km. As usual, La Purito repeats, in its fifth edition, the routes that received such good evaluations in previous years. Thus, the organization has combined technical and demanding sections, with exciting climbs to 1st and 2nd category mountain passes, present in numerous stages of the Vuelta España and even in some stages of the Tour de France. Thus, the cycle tour will offer 3 different routes, open to cyclists of different levels. The first route, and obviously the most demanding, will be 145 km and 5,400 m of altitude difference, while the second route will have 80 km and 3,500 meters of altitude difference and, finally, the least demanding route will be 28 km and 1,700 m. meters.
Without detracting, in any way, from the two shortest routes, no one doubts that the great attraction of the test is the 145 km route and 5,400 meters of elevation gain, becoming a real challenge for the legs of all those brave people who dare to do this. demanding challenge. Thus, to the 5400 meters of altitude difference we must add 6 high mountain passes, which range between 1st, 2nd and 4th category, adding a special category pass.
And for the little ones: La Purito Kids
In the same way as in previous years, this edition of La Purito will celebrate, the day before the big event, La Purito Kids, a children's event whose objective is none other than to promote the practice of cycling and the values of the sport among the most children and remember the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyle habits. This test, which will take place in the town of our Hotel in Encamp, will have a circular route and will be open, in different categories, to boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 14.
